Carbon dioxide from staff, patient and visitor travel in 2004 was estimated to contribute to about 25% of NHSScotland's total CO2 emissions for that year, and so, with that in mind, all major healthcare facilities should have a travel plan in place. Public sector sustainability reporting also requires emissions from transport to be reported.
