Hazard Notices

The Adverse Incident Reporting & Investigation Centre (IRIC) co-ordinates the investigation of incidents involving health, social care, estates and facilities equipment across NHSScotland and local authorities in Scotland as set out in CEL 43 (2009) and where necessary issues safety alerts. This involves close liaison with MHRA, Scottish Government and the Department of Health in England as well as the Health and Safety Executive, the police and Procurator Fiscal Service in cases involving serious injury or fatality.

Hazard Notices were top priority safety warnings issued in Scotland from 1995 to 2009 and have largely been superseded by Medical Device Alerts (from the MHRA) and Estates & Facilities Alerts.
