The Adverse Incident Reporting & Investigation Centre (IRIC) co-ordinates the investigation of incidents involving estates and facilities equipment across NHSScotland as set out in CEL 43 (2009) (pdf) and where necessary issues an Estates & Facilities Alert (EFA). This involves close liaison with counterparts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in order to publish the same advice simultaneously across the whole of the UK. We liaise with the Health and Safety Executive, the police and Procurator Fiscal Service in cases involving serious injury or fatality.
