IRIC co-ordinates the investigation of adverse incidents and, where necessary, issues an Estates and Facilities Alert or proposes that the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) issue a Medical Device Alert. Prior to 2010, advice in Scotland was published in Hazard Notices and Safety Action Notices.
