Launch of the NHSScotland Carbon Footprint Report
22nd October 2009
HFS commissioned experts Arup and the Stockholm Environment Institute to calculate the consumption-based carbon footprint of NHSScotland activities from 1990 to 2004.
The findings of this work are contained in this key report, launched on 22 October 2009 by Nicola Sturgeon (MSP), Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing. With Scotland leading the way with its ambitious Climate Change Act in August 2009, and the world gearing up for vital climate change talks in Copenhagen towards the end of the year, this timely piece of work puts NHSScotland's contributions in context and sets out some of the key challenges the service faces.
