NHSScotland Firecode SHTM 86 version 5 has now been published and replaces in their entirety SHTM 86 Parts 1 and 2. These previous versions have now been withdrawn.

SHTM 81 Part 3 and SHTM 82
New Fire Safety documents SHTM 81 Part 3: Atria in healthcare premises, and SHTM 82: Fire alarm and detection systems have now been published.

SHTM 04-01 Parts A and B
SHTM 04-01 Parts A and B have been re-published following guidance agreed with Health Protection Scotland with respect to “Guidance for neonatal units (NNUs) (levels 1,2,& 3), adult and paediatric intensive care units (ICUs) in Scotland to minimise the risk of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection from water”. The two documents have been brought into line with each other and it will be note that the SHTM has been re-titled “Water Safety” to reflect its expanded remit.

Endoscopy Decontamination Seminar - 13th March 2013
The Endoscopy Decontamination Seminar was held on the 13th of March 2013 at the Beardmore Hotel. 50 delegates and 4 sponsors attended the event. This was the second Endoscopy Decontamination Seminar the first being held on the 26th of January 2012. This year’s seminar included current developments relevant to Endoscopy including; education, feedback on recent research, the development of an international standard for Endoscope drying cabinets and the way forward in Endoscopy decontamination. The overall aim of the seminar was to provide Endoscopy Managers /Charge Nurses with an opportunity to share experiences, helping to ensure a safe effective and patient centered service.
