Health Facilities Scotland (HFS) Property and Capital Planning team works with colleagues in NHSScotland, UK Health Departments and professional bodies to develop and promote high standards in these fields within healthcare. The guidance produced by Health Facilities Scotland (HFS) is an essential component in the safe and efficient operation of healthcare facilities.
Through its policy development work, Property and Capital Planning, in partnership with Scottish Government Health Directorate (SGHD), aims to establish professional and technical standards, introduce best practice procedures and new technologies / innovations that will support NHS Boards to achieve their operational targets.
Property and Capital Planning deliver a wide range of courses as part of the National Education and Training Programme.
HFS is responsible for the development of NHSScotland Firecode and is led by the National Fire Safety Advisor, Gordon Allen.
In partnership with the Scottish Government Health Directorate, HFS is currently developing guidance specific to NHSScotland in Developing an Estates Strategy, Estate code and providing an Asset Management System.
